Hello. My name is
Rachel
DuBois (photo at left shows me and my wonderful daughter Emily sharing some love) and I am the owner of
MoonDance Soaps & More. I began making
old-fashioned handcrafted soaps as
a hobby to regain a sense of connection with the products of the earth and to
allow myself to express
my creativity in a new way. Most of my creations became special gifts to my
family, friends, and
co-workers, who found they really enjoyed quality handcrafted soaps over
commercially manufactured soaps.
Word soon spread about my "hobby" and the quality of my soaps, and before I knew
it,
MoonDance
Soaps was born.
MoonDance Soaps is a home-based business located in Wake County, North Carolina,
northwest of Raleigh. We
manufacture quality soap products made the old-fashioned way: batch
saponification of vegetable
oils combined with essential oils, fragrance oils, herbs, spices, goat milk &
honey for truly
lovely hand and body soaps. Each bar is hand-cut and then cured for at
least four weeks before it is packaged and ready for sale. No animal testing is
conducted (except,
of course, on my very willing family members and friends!)
At MoonDance Soaps & More we consider the creation of our products to be a
synthesis of art and science. A merging of new and old wisdom. A combination of sensuality and practicality.
Our mission is not only to produce quality products but also to develop and
implement meaningful ways of doing business.
- We make every effort to operate our business in an ethical and moral
manner with the utmost respect for those our products and services touch.
- We endeavor to create a humanistic and respectful work environment and
employ adults with disabilities in our packaging and labeling areas.
- Where possible, we conduct our business with suppliers whose business
philosophy encompasses more than just making money. Our gift crates are
constructed in a workshop which employs adult handicapped craftsmen. Many of our
essential oils and fixed oil ingredients are supplied by a company which donates
portions of its profits to a non-profit shelter for battered and abused women and their children.
- We try to secure organic herbal products when available.
- We make every effort to recycle or compost all of the wastes created in
our manufacturing, packaging, and shipping activities.
We also believe in the value of community and that each of us as individuals has
a part to play in helping our society and one another. Each year MoonDance
selects a charity to which we donate 5% of our profits. It's our way of giving
back to the community and sharing our success.
For 2006 we will be making our donation to
Second Chance Pet Adoptions, a non-profit animal rescue organization
that has served homeless cats and dogs of Wake County, North Carolina since 1989.
We feel that by making these conscious decisions in our day to day operations and
conduct, we are making MoonDance more than just a provider of exceptional
products and services.
Sincerely,
Rachel DuBois
